I think I'm among friends here so I feel comfortable confessing something to you. Apparently I'm not as sharp as I used to be. It's shocking, I know!! I used to pick up on new things relatively easily and changes in technology weren't something I gave much thought to. I just went with it. Apparently those days are over.
I started planning a website to replace my Etsy shop a little over a year ago. I managed to secure my domain name, I set up my new email address, I selected Shopify for my e-commerce solution, and I learned how to say "e-commerce solution" without feeling like I was playing dress-up in my mother's high heel shoes that were 4 sizes too big.
Then I went in to Shopify to start building my online store and discovered that it might as well have been written in Japanese for all the sense it made to me. I revisited Shopify several times over the next year with the same frustrated lack of results. During that time I somehow managed to accidentally migrate some of my product listings from Etsy to Shopify which was a good thing. But I couldn't figure out what to do with them once I got them there.
About a month ago, it finally clicked. I don't know what happened or why but for some reason when I logged in to my Shopify account it suddenly made sense. I still fumbled through some parts of it but within about a week I had an actual website!
I have no clue why it took so long for me to understand what to do and I also have no idea why it just suddenly made sense one day but it seems to have all worked out and for that I am grateful.
My website isn't slick or fancy and I really don't want it to be that way. I want it to load quickly on everyone's computer or mobile device, even those that should have been upgraded 5 years ago since that's the world I live in. I want minimal clutter, easy navigation and easy to read fonts. Basically I want this to be like a walk-in tub or the Jitterbug Phone of websites, ya feel me?
I hope you enjoy my new home on the web and please feel free to offer any helpful feedback you might have...and use a big font if you want me to actually read it.
found you! will be back for more, love A5 size
Yay, Shannon! I’m so happy for you! You have a wonderful way of communicating your love of creating beautiful things out of “stuff,” and helping others see that they, too, can discover their intuitive creativeness. You go, girl!
πππ Well done Shannon!! It looks great, I subscribed to ‘stay in the loop’ π Haven’t received the usual email confirmation but maybe it doesn’t do that for your site. (just wanted to mention in case it was something you needed to know about) I LOVE how you’ve designed this, simple-clean-easy to navigate and load…. So many websites go way over the top with “shiny distractions” and I love the image of the little girl feet in her mommy’s high heels. A picture really is worth a 1,000 words! Congratulations on making this happen, it is a joy and delight to see how far you’ve come, to continue to support and cheer you on, and to eagerly see what’s next! YOU are one of my heroes πβ€π
Yay! Youβre up and running! Everything looks and works great.. Today Iβm just here for the blogs. π
