Then I went in to Shopify to start building my online store and discovered that it might as well have been written in Japanese for all the sense it made to me. I revisited Shopify several times over the next year with the same frustrated lack of results. During that time I somehow managed to accidentally migrate some of my product listings from Etsy to Shopify which was a good thing. But I couldn't figure out what to do with them once I got them there.
About a month ago, it finally clicked. I don't know what happened or why but for some reason when I logged in to my Shopify account it suddenly made sense. I still fumbled through some parts of it but within about a week I had an actual website!
I have no clue why it took so long for me to understand what to do and I also have no idea why it just suddenly made sense one day but it seems to have all worked out and for that I am grateful.
My website isn't slick or fancy and I really don't want it to be that way. I want it to load quickly on everyone's computer or mobile device, even those that should have been upgraded 5 years ago since that's the world I live in. I want minimal clutter, easy navigation and easy to read fonts. Basically I want this to be like a walk-in tub or the Jitterbug Phone of websites, ya feel me?
I hope you enjoy my new home on the web and please feel free to offer any helpful feedback you might have...and use a big font if you want me to actually read it.
]]>Being partial to the crafty side of life I was thrilled when I learned about 1320 Creative in Springdale, AR. They are brand new to the arts, crafts and DIY scene but they already have their thumb on the pulse of what makers want and they have a plan for making those things more accessible in the surrounding areas.
When you visit 1320 Creative you might notice some products and brands you've seen before. They have acquired 7gypsies, Tattered Angels and Canvas Corp's inventory as well as manufacturing equipment. There are big plans to update and revitalize each brand and to keep them relevant to the industry's frequently changing trends. This is exciting news for us longtime fans as well as those who haven't yet experienced these brands.
This is not some tiny little arts and crafts shop where every time you turn around your purse knocks something off a shelf. There's plenty room to spread out, walk around and bend over without worrying about what kind of damage your ever-expanding caboose might cause. There is also a coffee bar where shoppers can enjoy a free cup while they browse or have a seat to plan your next project or visit with friends. Personally, I find this area the perfect place to park an unruly or impatient spouse.
1320 Creative can supply you with everything you'll need to get your craft on including canvas, burlap, paint, screen printing, seasonal crafts, scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies, kids craft supplies, gift items, home decor, wholesale, custom orders, classes, workshops and a partridge in a pear tree. If you don't find what you're looking for just let them know...the staff loves a good challenge!
I have some of my Paintable Custom Keepers and inserts available in the store and I will also be doing monthly classes there. If you plan to stop by just give me a heads up and I'll plan to meet you so we can shop local together!
